💼 Story — Job Fair Lands in Chatham This Week
Concentrix is hosting an on-site job fair in partnership with CKJobs this Tuesday, August 18, from 2–6pm at its Chatham location (180 Keil Drive South). The event is focused on Automotive Customer Support Specialist roles, with successful candidates joining Concentrix's next Hyundai training class starting August 31.
Candidates are encouraged to apply online ahead of time and bring a resume plus valid ID (driver's licence, photo ID, or passport) and proof of SIN. Only Canadian citizens and permanent residents are eligible — those on an open work permit do not qualify for this specific role.
It's not the only opening in town — Velvet Desserts and Creamery, Wabtec, and Fastenal are all currently hiring in Chatham-Kent as well.
🗳️ Story — Two CK Councillors Had Perfect Attendance This Term
With the election heating up and a record field of candidates now confirmed, here's a number worth knowing: South Kent Councillor Anthony Ceccacci and North Kent Councillor Rhonda Jubenville both had perfect attendance at open council sessions throughout their entire four-year term. Chatham Councillor Brock McGregor came close, missing just one open meeting in four years.
On the other end, several councillors missed between six and thirteen open sessions over their term. Mayor Darrin Canniff missed four. West Kent Councillor Melissa Harrigan's numbers were affected by a serious health battle in 2023, missing 26 meetings that year while undergoing cancer treatment — with attendance returning to normal afterward.
🐾 Story — A New Way to Care for Pets, Right Here in Chatham
Nora Klinck, a retired nurse, has launched Furever Aquamation — the only business offering water-based pet aftercare in the region west of Kitchener-Waterloo. Aquamation is a gentle, eco-friendly alternative to traditional cremation, and Klinck personally handles pickups anywhere across Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex, and Sarnia-Lambton for dogs, cats, and even smaller pets like birds and lizards.
Klinck draws on a background in home health care, the funeral industry, and running her own business to bring something genuinely compassionate to a hard moment. "Our pets are family members," she said. "For many people, it's no different than a mother, brother, sister, uncle, grandparent." Families can be as involved or as hands-off as they want — some choose to be present for the whole process, others don't, and Klinck says she meets every family exactly where they're at.

Chatham parents Kaley Johnston and Arthur Rumble welcomed monoamniotic-monochorionic twins — the rarest type, occurring in just 1 in 10,000 births — sharing a single placenta and amniotic sac.
