Chatham-Kent is running its Community Satisfaction Survey right now, and residents have until August 31 at 4pm to weigh in on what matters most to them across municipal services. The municipality is using the results to help shape priorities going forward — and everyone who completes one or more of the surveys is entered into a giveaway for a gift basket.

Why it matters to CK: With a record field of council candidates already lining up for October's election, this survey is a rare direct line to the municipality outside of election season. It takes a few minutes, it's free, and it genuinely feeds into how CK prioritizes spending and services. Worth doing before the deadline sneaks up.

Nomination Day is tomorrow, Friday August 21 at 2:00pm — the final deadline for anyone hoping to run for mayor or council in the 2026 municipal election. It's also the deadline for any current candidate to withdraw their name. After 2pm tomorrow, the ballot for October's election is locked in.

Why it matters to CK: This has already been the largest candidate field in at least five elections, and today is the last chance for that to grow — or shrink. If you've been thinking about running, or know someone who has, today is the day to actually do something about it.

🚨 Blenheim man charged after assault escalates to choking. Police responded to a Catherine Street residence in Blenheim early Tuesday morning after an assault complaint between two parties known to each other. The dispute escalated when the accused choked the victim before fleeing — police located and arrested a 55-year-old Blenheim man a short time later.

🚨 Threats complaint investigated on Irwin Street, Chatham. Police responded to a threats complaint Tuesday evening. Investigation is ongoing.

⚾ Barnstormers beat Guelph Tuesday, London up next Friday. Chatham-Kent picked up a win over the Guelph Royals Tuesday night as they close out the regular season. They're back in action Friday against the London Majors.
