☀️ Daily Summary + Weather

Spring is Officially Here (and it’s actually warm!)

Happy First Day of Spring, Chatham-Kent! ☕️

The Vernal Equinox arrives today with a rare gift: double-digit temperatures. It’s the perfect day to open a window, though you might want to keep the umbrella handy for later.

🌤️ Today: Clouding over with periods of light rain (70%). A high of 15°C. 🌬️ The Wind: Breezy Southwest winds at 25 km/h. 🌡️ Tonight: Partly cloudy and cooling down to 1°C.

The Outlook: It’s a "fake spring" teaser—enjoy the 15-degree warmth today before we dip back into the single digits for the weekend.

🚨 THE BIG STORY

The Harwich Raleigh Silence

The situation at Harwich Raleigh Public School has moved beyond a local dispute and into a wider debate over student safety in CK. Following father Josh Sykes' viral account of death threats made against his son, the community is demanding to know why a "safety first" policy resulted in a parent being trespassed while the threatening student remained in class.

The Lambton Kent District School Board has released a statement emphasizing that safety is their "highest priority," but for parents in Blenheim, the lack of specific action is telling.

Why it matters: This is about the precedent of discipline in our schools. If credible threats of violence are minimized to "student behavior," parents are left wondering where the line is drawn before a tragedy occurs.

🚨 POLICE BRIEFS

Erieau Update & Berry St. Assault

• Tragedy in Erieau: Police confirmed Thursday that the heavy presence on Mariners Road was related to a drowning. Officers remain on scene communicating with family members; a full update is expected this morning.

• Berry St. Assault: A 32-year-old Chatham man was arrested Wednesday after a 911 hang-up call led officers to a residence where a youth had been physically assaulted during a dispute.

• Bail Breach: A 60-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with failing to comply with court conditions after attending a residence he was legally barred from visiting.
