📚 Major Story — Immersion Language Program Welcomes Students Back for 12th Year
Anishinaabeg Kinomaagewgamig is welcoming students back for its 12th year of immersive Anishinaabemowin language education in Chatham-Kent. The program centres on Indigenous identity, belonging, and Anishinaabe ways of knowing for both students and their families.
⚖️ Major Story — Two Convicted of Animal Welfare Offences in Blenheim
Two people have been convicted in Blenheim Ontario Court of Justice for permitting animals to be in distress under the Provincial Animal Welfare Services Act. One of the two faced additional related charges.
Why it matters to CK: Animal welfare cases don't always get the follow-through coverage they deserve once the initial story fades — a conviction is worth knowing about, both as accountability and as a reminder that these laws do get enforced.
