Good morning, Chatham-Kent. We weren’t here yesterday so there's a bit to catch up on. The municipality wants to hear from you before the end of the month — and there's a gift basket in it for you. Here's your Thursday. 👇
⛽ Gas & ☀️ Weather
Gas: Prices ticked up a few cents yesterday to around 165¢. Check today's cheapest stations on GasBuddy →
Weather: A calmer day after Wednesday's rain. Mainly cloudy with wind becoming northeast at 30 km/h through the morning, easing off by early afternoon. High of 25°, humidex 28, UV index 7 — still worth the sunscreen. Skies clear out overnight for a comfortable low of 15°.
📋 Major Story — Municipality Wants Your Feedback Before August 31
Chatham-Kent is running its Community Satisfaction Survey right now, and residents have until August 31 at 4pm to weigh in on what matters most to them across municipal services. The municipality is using the results to help shape priorities going forward — and everyone who completes one or more of the surveys is entered into a giveaway for a gift basket.
Why it matters to CK: With a record field of council candidates already lining up for October's election, this survey is a rare direct line to the municipality outside of election season. It takes a few minutes, it's free, and it genuinely feeds into how CK prioritizes spending and services. Worth doing before the deadline sneaks up.
🗳️ Major Story — Tomorrow Is the Last Day to File for Council
Nomination Day is tomorrow, Friday August 21 at 2:00pm — the final deadline for anyone hoping to run for mayor or council in the 2026 municipal election. It's also the deadline for any current candidate to withdraw their name. After 2pm tomorrow, the ballot for October's election is locked in.
Why it matters to CK: This has already been the largest candidate field in at least five elections, and today is the last chance for that to grow — or shrink. If you've been thinking about running, or know someone who has, today is the day to actually do something about it.
