About CKNow
Last updated October 27, 2026
The short version
- CKNow is an independent local news site and email newsletter covering the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, Ontario.
- It’s free to read, with no paywall.
- We report from public records and link to our sources.
- Sponsors and ads are clearly labelled and never influence what we cover.
- Spot a mistake? Email contact@cknow.ca.
What we do
CKNow covers Chatham-Kent’s communities, from Chatham and Wallaceburg to Ridgetown, Tilbury, Blenheim and the towns in between. We publish local stories on cknow.ca/news and send them by email in two newsletters: CKNow Daily and the weekly Friday Briefing. Past issues are in the newsletter archive.
The site also has practical local tools: events, gas prices, garbage and recycling days, a business directory, a community bulletin board and, during elections, ward-by-ward results.
How we report
- Sources. Our reporting draws on municipal public records, council meetings, official results and other local news outlets. When we use another outlet’s reporting, we say so and link to it.
- Our own words. We write every story ourselves. Quotes are marked as quotes and credited to the person and the outlet that reported them.
- Elections. We don’t endorse candidates. Results are labelled unofficial until the Municipal Clerk certifies them, and CKNow is not an official source of election information.
- Dates. Every story shows when it was published, and when it was last updated if we changed it later.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we want to fix it. Email contact@cknow.ca with the page and what’s wrong. We correct confirmed mistakes as soon as we can. Business owners can send updates to their directory listing the same way.
How CKNow is paid for
CKNow is an independent local business. It’s paid for by:
- Sponsors. Local businesses sponsor the newsletter and website. Every sponsorship is labelled, and sponsors don’t decide what we report. A sponsorship isn’t an endorsement. Advertise with CKNow.
- Google ads. Most pages show ads from Google AdSense. We don’t choose the ads, and they don’t appear on our election pages. Our Privacy Policy explains the cookies they use.
- Partner offers. We sometimes share offers from partners and may earn a commission when you sign up. We say so wherever they appear.
- Readers. Some readers leave a tip. Tips don’t buy coverage.
