📞 CK Police Launch New Tip Line After Crime Stoppers Data Breach
Chatham-Kent Police have launched their own local community tip line, just days after pausing their partnership with Crime Stoppers over a data breach affecting Crime Stoppers programs across Canada. The new line lets residents share information about crime directly with CKPS while that situation gets sorted out.
Police say they understand the concern the breach may cause for anyone who has given information through Crime Stoppers before with the expectation of staying anonymous, and that protecting the privacy and safety of people who come forward remains the priority.
💙 Two Big Nights, One Big Number: CK's Charity Season Raises Over $330K
It's been a good week for local causes. The annual Shake the Lake Charity Fun Run raised $111,000 for six Chatham-Kent charities this year, with organizers pledging a share of it toward the new hospital currently being developed for the municipality.
Days later, Chatham-Kent Hospice marked its 10th anniversary with a benefit gala that brought in close to $222,000 for its end-of-life care programs — a decade after the hospice first opened its doors. Between the two events, that's more than $330,000 raised for local causes in a matter of days.
